Henlo and Nicole’s love story begins at university, during a boring philosophy class on a Thursday morning. Nicole would answer all of the questions in class and got into a heated debate about whether or not Plato’s philosophy had merit. As the class came to a close Nicole was approached by a student named Sisa, Sisa told Nicole and her friends that himself and a friend had noticed them speaking up in class and wanted to start a study group, because they did not want to realistically do the work and wanted an easy way out. When Sisa called Henlo over, Nicole couldn’t stop smiling, he introduced himself by explaining that an easy way to remember his name was that “it’s like ‘Hello!” just with an N in there”, (not that Nicole would ever forget his name). Study group after study group, slowly but surely people stopped showing up, except for Henlo and Nicole. One night they stayed on campus until 21:00 talking and laughing, getting to know each other, until Henlo stuck his neck out and asked Nicole on a date. Unfortunately for Henlo she batted him for a six…hard… She had a boyfriend. Henlo, totally chivalrous accepted this fact and simply replied “well if you guys ever break up, let me know, I’ll bring over a bottle of wine and you can talk to me about it”. As time went on Nicole’s previous relationship broke up and she saw Henlo on campus again, she gathered the strength and went up to him and said, “so when do you want to bring some wine over?” Henlo caught that hint…after a while…thankfully. They started dating and after a while, after meeting what Nicole would consider ‘her excentric family’ and falling in love with his family equally as much, the love only grew and turned into funny moments where Nicole would wheeze of laughter, hard times when love, support and understanding evolved or traveling to Ireland, exploring castles and villages and eventually where Henlo would ask her mom for permission to pop the question. Low and behold in April 2024 Henlo did just that, with her mom and brothers on a video call, his parents and his sister masking the outing as a photoshoot, Henlo and Nicole took the next step in their future. With God blessing their every step and being their foundation, they made it to this point right here, and they are so excited for the journey ahead. God not only brought them together, an Afrikaans guy from Pretoria and an English girl from Ireland but he carried them through the good times and the bad, and from the moment they saw each other on that first day after class to the moment they tie the knot they will never forget the hand of God in every moment.
